Campers take the stage in this unique musical theater camp that emphasizes collaboration and self-expression, and builds the self-confidence required for a successful transition to high school. Campers work under the guidance of talented teachers and theater professionals to bring a Broadway Jr. musical to life.
Campers learn to:
Campers may audition for additional enrichment in dance and music, and may participate if selected at no additional fee. Campers’ creative work culminates with a full-scale production that is shared with family and friends during camp’s final week.
*For 2022, we are delighted to welcome our returning campers who are entering Grade 10 since they missed summer 2020 at PAC.
Every day of Performing Arts Camp offers a mixture of scheduled and choice activities. Campers connect at the morning meeting, and then they travel with their camp groups through an exciting rotation of indoor and outdoor periods.
We offer campers the chance to spend lots of time doing what they love at camp while also providing opportunities for them to try new things. We watch our campers build independence and self-confidence by making decisions about their day.
Sample daily schedule:
Recreational play includes outdoor activities such as water games, Gaga Ball, four square, tag, jump rope, freeze dance, obstacle courses, and visits to Prospect Park.
Campers may audition for enrichment periods, and are offered to campers who want additional instruction in dance or instrumental music at no extra charge.
Choice time lets campers participate in something that interests them or they may try something new. Choice activities have included bracelet making, yoga, card games, tap dancing, frisbee, talent show, tie dying, trivia, slime-making, board games, hand lettering, and more.
Share time is a weekly activity that campers fondly anticipate! Each Friday afternoon, camp groups share the progress they’ve made toward their final performances in drama, dance, or instrumental.
In our Musical Theater program, campers are cast for roles in a Broadway Jr. musical. Campers work together with our teaching artists to try on different roles, and then prepare a monologue and a short song for an audition. This experience presents a perfect opportunity for campers who will be trying out for a performing arts high school or college.
PAC emphasizes the importance of all roles in a musical and we teach our campers to commit to their character, no matter the size of their part. There are no “small roles” at camp. Campers also have the chance to explore areas of interest behind the scenes include costume and set design.
Camp is life-changing! We have fun at PAC, and our supportive approach inspires the commitment and dedication of our campers.
