The Leader in Training (LIT) program at Summer Experience Day Camp trains teens as they transition from campers into future counselors. LITs receive meaningful instruction as well as hands-on opportunities for positive engagement with campers and staff. Successful LITs develop independence and responsibility, and they prepare for future leadership roles at camp and beyond.

Spots are limited. In advance of registration, interested LIT candidates must submit an interest form to make sure the program is a good fit for their goals.

Please note:

• Deadline to submit interest form: March 1, 2024
• Forms will be reviewed; parent/guardian will be contacted via email by March 15, 2024
• Selected LITs should commit to all 6-weeks of camp.
• LITs are not counselors; they must register for the program if selected.
• Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in working with kids
• Eligible LITs must demonstrate initiative, dedication and maturity.

Program includes:

• Training in leadership, communication, safety
• CPR + First Aid Training
• Workshops in problem-solving, assertiveness, and teamwork
• Hands-on participation with campers
• Learn to lead games and activities
• Help plan and deliver special events for campers
• Assignment to a specific camp group
• Resume workshop
• Preparation for future full-time counselor role
